Museum Marathon Day

M. Fontana, if you’re chuckling from above, please accept our sincerest apologies. We are but humble « spatialism » Padawans.

In any case, and even though we didn’t know much, Lucio Fontana-wise, we found the exhibition very interesting (and to be quite honest, it was my favorite of all three) and we really enjoyed the video that retraces the time where the artist revisits a friend’s art with slashes that he meticulously added to the canvas. Yes. OK, I’ll admit we smiled too. But it’s what I like about modern art too, the grotesque is also genius.

We then moved on to our third and last stop: the Counterfeit Museum, but we were pretty disappointed…we were expecting much more! The real/fake comparison was interesting, but there were clearly not enough objects on exhibition, and the too big portion of the exhibition that centered on packaging killed the last of our enthusiasm. Too bad!!

But all in all, August in Paris is perfect for this type of Museum Marathon. If you have museums or exhibitions you want to recommend, we’re all ears!! (English translation by Bleu Marine)

PS11 : I Love you

· Fashion

I broke the bank last week. I wanted it for a while, was going for the brown but the tan was the obvious choice.

But in the end I invested in the beautiful red in the mini version and I am delighted with it: the size is perfect, it is chic but not posh: ideal.

I am asking myself and the Proenza Schouler bag specialists of this world: wasn’t there a buckle dangling in the middle of the mini classic bags from last season?  Why drop it? Maybe to give it a Celine-esque overall feel? Please shine some (red) light on this issue. (English translation by Isa)

Le bonheur est à Petit-Brens

· Fashion, Travel

As I may have told you, last week I spent a weekend with family, far from the city, in a farm we have rented out for the 11 of us there, in Petit-Brens (in the Ain department). It was my first time in the area, and I loved it.

The weather wasn’t really compliant, but we managed to escape from the pouring rain from time to time (hence the unhoped for pictures)…and our frenzied Pictionary games (mime version if you please!) really helped up overcome it all!

I’m very much aware of the fact that this is very « City people discovering the country side » (even if I’m originally from the Auvergne region), but it was really great to be in an unpolluted area out in the country.

Our hosts, Monique and Noël were absolutely charming, feeding us their delicious dishes made with fruit and vegetables from their own vegetable patch (jam, raspberry-blackberry pie, and homemade applesauce were on the menu), all in a very cocooning atmosphere.

As the french saying goes (and a french reality tv show by the same name), love IS in the meadow. (English translation by Bleu Marine)
