Déjà un 4 ème article d’eux sur ce blog. Ils font partie des meubles à présent. Après la découverte, la pochette remasterisée, la rencontre, voici le Live et bientôt, le Mariage… (Non, en fait pour le mariage ça n’aura probablement pas lieu puisque je déclinerai tout demande de la part de Theo ou Adam. Je serai ferme! Oui je sais , ça va être dur à encaisser ). Vendredi dernier, c’était donc un grand jour puisque c’était le passage de Hurts au Trabendo à Paris. J’attendais cet événement depuis quelques mois déjà et je n’ai pas été déçue.
It’s already been the 4th article on this blog. They’re kind of part of the scenery now. After the discovery, the revamped cover, the meeting, here is the Live show and soon, the Wedding…(No, actually the wedding probably won’t happen because I will decline any proposal from Theo or Adam. I will be strong! Yes I know, it will be tough). Last friday, it was a big day because Hurts was playing the Trabendo in Paris. I was waiting for this event for months and I wasn’t disappointed.
Habituée aux concerts de plus grande envergure comme Muse, j’ai vraiment apprécié cette ambiance en comité plus restreint sans bousculades , fan attitude démesurée, membre déchiqueté… mais plus que tout j’ai aimé l’acoustique parfaite. Les petites salles sont le lieu rêvé pour savourer la musique. Et celle de Hurts collait parfaitement à l’endroit même si je rêve pour eux d’un Zenith ou d’un Bercy… Mais encore faut-il que les radios françaises se décident à passer leurs chansons avant 2047! J’ai d’ailleurs fait part à Theo à la fin du concert de ma déception de nous voir en France si réfractaires à la diffusion de leurs titres mais apparemment il n’avait pas l’air de s’en inquiéter et trouvait que l’accueil était très bon en France. Tant mieux!
I am used to going to bigger gigs like Muse but I really appreciated the intimate atmosphere without jostling with crazy fans, shredding limbs… But more than anything I enjoyed the perfect sound system. Small venues are the perfect place to enjoy music. And Hurts music was ideal for this place even if I am dreaming of a Zenith or Bercy for them… For this to happen, french radio stations need to play their songs before 2047! I actually brought up my disappointment with Theo at the end of the gig about the fact that France is so resistant to the diffusion of their tracks but apparently he didn’t seem too worried about it and found France very welcoming. Good!
Sinon , en vrac, j’ai trouvé Theo plus remuant que d’habitude sur scène, lui d’habitude si stoïque… et c’était plutôt pas mal ( Tout est relatif hein, il ne saute pas non plus comme un cabri « à la Mika »). Ses envois de roses au public faisaient un peu cliché romantique mais ont dû satisfaire quelques chanceuses (et le fleuriste du coin). Le passage à la guitare par Adam sur « Evelyn » a donné une nouvelle dimension moins tragique à la chanson et ça l’a même embellie. La voix du Tenor Richard s’est mêlée avec perfection à celle de Theo sur « Verona », le titre caché de l’album. Et par dessus-tout, ce qui m’a marqué c’était l’ambiance générale mêlée d’émotion et de vraie convivialité.
Other than that, on the whole, I found Theo more energetic than usual on the stage, he is normally so stoic… And it wasn’t bad at all ( It’s all relative huh, he doesn’t jump everywhere like Mika). Throwing roses to the public was a bit of a romantic cliché but probably made some lucky ones happy (as well as the corner florist). The guitar riff by Adam on « Evelyn » gave a new, less tragic dimension to the song and made it more beautiful. Richard’s tenor voice mixed perfectly with Theo’s voice on « Verona », the hidden track on the album. And above all, what touched me most was the general ambiance and true friendliness.
Je n’ai pas filmé ce soir là afin de savourer chaque seconde du concert mais cette vidéo tournée à Munich donne un petit aperçu de l’ambiance à Paris (sauf qu’à la fin il dit « Merci beaucoup Paris » et pas « Danke schön München »). La chanson « Stay » n’est pas ma favorite de l’album car je la trouve un peu trop « attrape-minettes » mais en live, finalement, on se ferait bien attraper. Ca y est je suis prise au piège.
I didn’t film the night so I could enjoy every minute of it but this video from a gig in Munich will give a good glimpse of the atmosphere in Paris (except that at the end he says « Thank you Paris » and not « Danke schön München »). The song « Stay » isn’t my favorite of the album because I found it a bit too cheesy and girly but live, after all, you can easily get caught up. There you go, I have been caught.
